You are invited to join us from 9 a.m. on Friday, December 1 for World AIDS Day 2023 to recognize that people living with HIV are not forgotten and that we continue our efforts towards prevention of HIV, removing barriers to testing, treatment and access. to services without judgment or stigma.

REGISTER TO PARTICIPATE

MORNING SESSIONS 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Join us at 9:30am to hear from LPV President, Craig A Brennan, who will be joined by the Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas MP, Victorian Minister for Health, Minister for Health Infrastructure and Minister for Medical Research.

Roundtable: Why inclusion matters 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Following the keynote address, we feature two members of the LPV Positive Speakers Bureau who will reflect on the issue of inclusion for PLHIV in a panel discussion on “Why Inclusion Matters.” Our speakers will speak about the value of including PLHIV in decision-making about research, health care, access to central and equitable outcomes, and a better understanding of the work that researchers, health providers, and others offer.

Exhibition HIV science as art with presentation 10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Over morning tea, listen to artist Daniel Cordner present an exhibition on the theme “HIV Science as Art”.

Community Forum: Equity for All 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
Our community forum this year, “Fairness for All,” will be moderated by Sara Graham, LPV Peer Support Manager, along with panelists Valentina, Daniel, Vicky and Liz.

Gilead Fellowship Announcement for Young Emerging Scientists (YES) from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Over lunch, listen to the announcement of the 2024 Gilead Young Emerging Scientists (YES) Fellowship, which will be presented by current fellow, Hailey Cheng.

AFTERNOON SESSIONS 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Clinical Perspectives 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Join us after lunch for the keynote speaker, Professor Jonathan Li (Director of the Harvard/Brigham Virology Laboratory, Director of the Harvard University Clinical AIDS Research Center).

Social Perspectives 2 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Hear Dr Dean Murphy (ARCSHS at La Trobe University) speak on ‘Inclusion in an age of undetectability’.

Community Perspectives 2:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
Listen to our community panel discussion on “What Respect Looks Like for PLHIV,” moderated by Beau Newham, LPV Community Development Manager, with panelists: Eric, Deodata and Adam.

Book launch 3:15 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
Over afternoon tea we launch the recently published book Beyond and behind the faces of HIV and AIDS. Join a conversation with three Australian writers and HIV advocates, Susan Paxton, Stevie Lee Walsh and Heather Ellis. Beyond and behind the faces of HIV and AIDS is a compilation of 35 deeply personal stories from people living with HIV from around the world.

Oral summaries 3:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.
Listen to four selected oral summaries

Awards ceremony and closing speakers 4:45 p.m. – 5 p.m.
ACH4-mHIVE presents the World AIDS Day 2023 Awards Ceremony with speakers Prof Tony Cunningham and Prof Thomas Tu.
