Why did a phone company launch its own brand beer? Good question. Mobile phone maker Nothing, the company that makes Android Nothing phone 2 with its flashing lights, has teamed up with British brewery Freetime to produce a rice lager. In keeping with the company’s minimalist aesthetic, the beer is simply called “beer (5.1%)” and comes in pure white cans with Nothing’s dot-matrix style font.
So what does it taste like? It’s good. Full of flavor, malty and very drinkable. I’m glad I ordered several packs. My favorite thing about it? If someone asks me what I drank last night, I can honestly say “Nothing.” It is only available in the UK and in limited quantities, and it remains to be seen whether it will be released on a wider scale.
Nothing beer is only limited to the UK, but could become available in more countries.
The beer made me wonder what drinks other tech companies represent. I think Apple might be a vodka she insists on serving neat, but over time could allowing customers to add a slice of lime – a move that will receive a round of applause at the unveiling. Google, on the other hand, could be a punch bowl, taking into account everyone’s ingredients. Samsung could offer a range of shots: inexpensive fruity shots for weekend clubbers and fancier spirits for wealthier adults.
Beverage-related beverages are not new to technology. I somehow remember the moment I tasted every Promotional drink designed for upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077.
